WA University Staff say NO to the merger!

The petition below has been initiated by the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) WA Division. It is open for staff members from all WA universities to sign, both union members and non-members.

We, the undersigned staff members at Western Australian universities, oppose the State Government’s proposal for a university merger between the University of Western Australia, Curtin University and Murdoch University. Staff at universities across the country have lived through mergers and restructures, and their experience is that these processes all too often bring job cuts and higher workloads, without solving governance problems. We call on the State Government to withdraw the proposal for a university merger, and to instead enact real governance reform at WA universities in the interests of students, staff and the higher education sector.
